I. Of Confidential Matters and Their Safekeeping

Hearken and attend, for herein are set forth the terms and conditions by which we, the appointed custodians of thine information, shall conduct ourselves. It is with utmost gravity and a solemn sense of duty that we undertake the safeguarding of the particulars entrusted unto us by thee, the goodly patrons of our establishment. Be it known that the secrets, both great and small, shared in confidence shall be guarded with a vigilance that doth rival the sentinels of the mightiest fortress. We pledge to shield these confidences from the prying eyes of the uninvited and the unwarranted, ensuring that no whisper of thy private affairs shall find its way to the gossiping tongues of the public square.

II. Of the Gathering and Use of Information

In our endeavors, we may find occasion to inquire after certain particulars of thy person and affairs. Such inquiries shall be made with due respect and discretion, and only upon matters deemed necessary and relevant to the purpose at hand. We avow that this information shall be employed solely for the purposes for which thou hast imparted it unto us, such as the provision of services or goods requested by thee. Let it be known that we shall not, in any underhanded manner, make merchandise of thy private details, nor shall we barter or trade them with peddlers of information, be they scribes, heralds, or any other who deals in the currency of secrets.

III. Of the Duration and Disposition of Thy Information

The particulars of thy dealings with us shall be kept in our records for a period deemed necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes aforestated. After such time as these purposes are satisfied, or upon thy request, we shall endeavor to erase and expunge from our ledgers all traces of thy information. However, it is to be understood that, should the law of the land compel us, we may be required to reveal certain details to the appointed authorities. Such disclosure shall be made with due regard for thy privacy, and only to the extent mandated by the law.

Thus is set forth our covenant on matters of privacy and confidentiality, penned with a sense of honor and duty, in the year of our Lord, Sixteen Hundred and Ten.
